Want to start a novel but don’t know where to begin? The Novel Roadmap is a six-week workshop that will guide you through key steps from brainstorming to creating an outline for your novel and plan key scenes to get started on your project. The road map is a unique approach that sets key destinations or writing goals while being flexible for growth, how to navigate detours and exploring new possibilities.
This is a private workshop hosted by Bel Canto Books, held at Steel Cup Coffee in Long Beach, CA. Each session will take place after-hours in the coffeeshop and include a beverage.
Students will create a story road map for their novel and complete writing exercises for character arcs, worldbuilding, key emotional beats and turning point scenes, and use these building blocks to plan their project. By the end of the workshop, students will be able to identify novel structure and an understanding of their own project, and have a map for how to get there. Students will have a complete outline and up to thirty pages written and workshopped during the course.
Sundays, 5pm- 6:30pm
This workshop will move forward with a minimum of 5 students and a maximum of 15 students.
